Sparing on gas as long there is no LNG in the UK

Liquid Natural Gas, or ‘LNG’ is a type of natural gas that has been liquefied. The liquefaction process reduces the volume of the gas, and this enables LNG to be easily transported across the world. Due to the reduced volume of the gas, the transportation process is more efficient, as more LNG than non-liquefied gas can be transported in one load. LNG is not available for widespread commercial use in the UK.

Thus, a number of strategies are need to ensure that gas is spared whilst there is no LNG in the UK. One way to spare gas is to simply use it more efficiently. This will also lower the cost of gas.
Using up a lot of gas to heat your home or place of business even when you are not there is a prime example of wasting gas. Better insulation will ensure that less gas is needed for heating purposes, as the heat will all be kept inside the building.

Setting timers on your boiler or other heating supply to ensure that the heat is only on when the weather is cold enough and when you are actually in the building is another great way to spare gas and save money.

Getting your boiler and other gas appliances checked for efficiency is also a great way to save money on gas. An inefficient boiler costs more to run than an efficient one. Upgrading your boiler to a more efficient model will enable you to use less gas than you did before but get a better quality of heating for your home or other building.

Another way to save money is to switch to a cheaper gas supplier. Indeed, many energy supplies enable new customers to get discount rates on their gas when they switch from their existing gas supplier.

A very practical way of saving money on gas bills and sparing gas is simply working according to the principle of only using as much gas as you need. So when you do your laundry, for instance, make sure the washing masculine is full. Washing your clothes in one big load uses around half as much gas as when you wash them in two small loads. Similarly, when boiling a kettle or running hot water for a bath, only use as much water as you actually need rather than wasting gas heating the water that you don’t really need.
